The Vector Encounter is a two-day gathering to discuss the biology of disease vectors, hosted by the Johns Hopkins Malaria Research Institute in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. During this engaging get-together, investigators present their lab's latest vector research on a chalk board, rather than on PowerPoint slides. Presentations are limited to one investigator per laboratory, by the PI if at all possible or by a senior member otherwise. During a breakout session on Thursday afternoon, there will be an opportunity for non-PIs to present their research in small group formations. See details on our registration site.
Directions and Campus Map
Parking: Parking on Thursday and Friday is $12.00 per day (Washington Garage - quadrant L1 on the map indicated as Staff parking on the campus map, however, the garage is open to the general public.)
There is a $40.00 registration fee, which includes two light breakfasts, two lunches and four breaks, for the two days.
The registration deadline is May 31, 2019.
Dinner (optional): On Thursday evening participants are invited to attend a casual group dinner over crabs at Captain James Landing Restaurant. The crab meal can be substituted for lasagna or pasta primavera during online registration. Payment is required in advance. The cost of dinner for Vector Encounter registrants is $30 (subsidized); the cost for a guest (not attending the Vector Encounter meeting) is $50.
Payment can be made with credit card when you register online. Select all appropriate ticket types before checking out. If your registration will be paid by another person or if you belong to a JHMRI lab, you should select the ticket type labelled "Register as a member of a payment group including JHMRI labs". To pay for another person or multiple people, please contact Trish.Ward@jhu.edu. Note that payments cannot be refunded after May 31th.
